Parish News for 17th Week in Ordinary Time

July 25, 2024 by Churchwardens in Weekly News

This Sunday is the seventeenth in Ordinary Time. Fr. David will be with us to celebrate Mass. John’s Gospel relates the miracle of the loaves and the fishes. John tells us that people, seeing this sign that Jesus had given, said, ‘This really is the prophet who is to come into the world.’

All Hallows Open Day
On Sunday 28th July, All Hallows Gospel Oak will celebrate the dedication of the church. From 12-3pm the church doors will be open to all. Attractions include a bric-a-brac stall, tea and homemade cake, and saying hello to Fr. James, our former priest, in his new church. The afternoon will conclude with Choral Evensong at 3.30pm. All Hallows Gospel Oak is in Savernake Road, NW3 2JP, a short walk from Gospel Oak Overground station and from Mansfield Road which is on the C11 bus route.

Cinema Club
The next Cinema Club trip will be to the Everyman open air cinema on the canal steps in Granary Square, Kings Cross, to see Elvis at 7.30pm on Wednesday 31st July. No booking is required and films are free to watch but you need to arrive early to get a seat. Contact Sandra for more information sandra.simoni@posp.co.uk

Gates at S. Pancras Gardens
In August, Camden Council will carry out the work to reinstate the main entrance gates and overthrow bridge at S. Pancras Gardens. The repair will take three days to complete. It will start on 6th August and is scheduled to be finished by 8th August. The work will require a large vehicle with a crane to reinstall the gates and overhead bridge. Therefore the car park and entrance will be closed, and the car park will not be accessible from 6th August to 8th August. Please ensure your vehicles in the car park are moved by 5th August to prevent any inconvenience.

Our beekeeper, Aisling Twomey, sends news about the bees. She says, “The hives continue to do well, and I’m hopeful we’ll have honey at the end of summer. If you haven’t been following our new blog, please do have a read.”
