Parish News for 19th Week in Ordinary Time

August 8, 2024 by Churchwardens in Weekly News

This Sunday is the nineteenth in Ordinary Time. Fr. David will be with us to celebrate the Mass. We continue with the Eucharistic meditation in John’s Gospel in which Jesus says, “I am the bread of life… I am the living bread which has come down from heaven.”

Appointment of New Priest: Fr. Owen Dobson
We are very pleased to announce that Fr. Owen Dobson has accepted the post as Priest-in-Charge of S. Pancras Old Church and S. Paul’s Camden Square.

Fr. Owen is currently an Assistant Priest at St John’s, Hyde Park Crescent – a temporary post since June. For the previous ten years he was Assistant Priest at St James’s, Sussex Gardens, Paddington.

Fr. Owen was Pastoral Assistant at S. Pancras Old Church in 2007-08 and no doubt some members of the congregation will remember him.

Fr. Owen loves music, getting people to sing, and he creates art and graphics for churches. He is very much looking forward to taking up the role of Priest-in-Charge and returning to two churches that played an important part in his journey to priesthood.

Details of the date and time of Fr. Owen’s licensing will be announced in due course.

Thursdays at 10am
There will be no Service of the Word and Holy Communion from the Reserved Sacrament at 10am on the following Thursdays in August: 15th, 22nd and 29th. Instead there will be coffee and chat for those in church on Thursday mornings.

No Saturday Mass
Please note there will be no Saturday morning Mass until our new priest is in post. There is a 10am Saturday Mass at S. Mary’s Somers Town in Eversholt Street. S. Mary’s is a short walk from Euston station, and on the 1 and 253 bus routes.

Cinema Club
The next Cinema Club trip will be to the Everyman open air cinema on the canal steps in Granary Square, Kings Cross, to listen to An Evening of Songs from the Shows: With London Show Choir at 6.30pm on Saturday 17th August. No booking is required and the show is free, but you need to arrive early to get a good seat. Contact Sandra for more information sandra.simoni@posp.co.uk
