Parish News for the 20th Week in Ordinary Time
Weekly News
This Sunday we celebrate the Assumption which marks the end of Mary’s earthly life and her assumption into heaven to be crowned by her son Jesus as Queen of Heaven. Amaretto will served with coffee, as is our custom on this Feast Day. Click here for the Scripture Readings. Change to Sunday Mass From this Sunday we will adopt the more traditional custom of sitting for the beginning of the Offertory Hymn and only standing during it, to be censed by the thurifer when he arrives at the sanctuary step. It is also customary to bow back to him at this point. It is hoped that this small change will bring a deeper involvement of the congregation in the liturgy of the sanctuary. New Pastoral Assistant Jonathan Thompson will be joining us, this first Sunday. Please make him feel welcome. Our Lady of Copacabana On Saturday 20th August at 2pm we host the annual celebration of the Bolivian community, with a Solemn Mass and traditional Bolivian music. All Welcome. Church Open Day Saturday 10th September 11-4pm. This event is part of the national Heritage Open Days Scheme. We will be offering Cream Teas, Churchyard tours, an art exhibition in church and the day will conclude with Choral Evensong at 5pm. Please speak to Clare or Fr James if you can help. Click here for details. S.Mary’s Eversholt Street Our sister church has been closed for public worship while urgent repairs are made to the masonry. Fr.Paschal and members of his congregation will be joining us on Sundays for the time being. Please make them feel welcome.
