Parish News for the 3rd Week in Ordinary Time

January 18, 2024 by James Elston in Weekly News

This Sunday is the 3rd in Ordinary Time. In the gospel reading we hear Jesus call his first disciples away from their fishing nets to follow him to become fishers of men. All of us are called in a particular way to serve God in the world, but we need to be able to hear that call when it comes, we do this most deeply in our life of prayer and in serving one another.  Click here for the scripture readings.

Corsican Sunday
On Sunday 11th February, our Corsican friends will be joining us for their annual celebration of Filippo Antonio Pasquale de’ Paoli (1725-1807), the Corsican leader who was buried in our churchyard. After Mass there will traditional Corsican refreshments.

Ash Wednesday
Lent begins on the 14th February. There will a Choral Mass with Imposition of Ashes at 6.30pm. Please had in your palm crosses to Jonathan who will burn them to make the ash.
