Parish News for the 5th Week in Ordinary Time

This Sunday is the 5th in Ordinary Time. In the Gospel reading Jesus says that we are to be salt and light in the world. Salt flavours invigorates and enhances and light illuminates what is dark. In these ways we bring God’s love to those around us and draw them closer to him. Click here for the scripture readings.

Corsican Sunday
This is now on the 5th February our Corsican friends will be joining us for their annual celebration of Filippo Antonio Pasquale de’ Paoli (1725-1807), the Corsican leader who was buried in our churchyard. After Mass there will traditional Corsican refreshments, we will also be joined by 30 students from the Lycee Ajaccio in Corsica.

Pilgrimage to Walsingham
The annual Old S.Pancras Pilgrimage to the Shrine of Our Lady is 16th-18th June, the cost is £240 in total. Places are limited so book soon. Pick up a booking from church.

Pat Clift RIP

Pat’s body will be received into church at 3.30pm on 1st February. The church will remain open for prayer until 5pm and she will rest here overnight. Her funeral Mass will be the next morning, Thursday 2nd February at 10.30am. Donations in Pat’s memory to the Motor Neurone Disease Association mndassociation.org/get-involved/donations/

Kristian Hewett
Our former pastoral assistant Kristian Hewett will be ordained a C of E priest in The Church of the Good Shepherd, Cambridge, on 4th February at 10.30am. Please pray for him and his wife Laura.

Pancake Party
Come and celebrate Shrove Tuesday with traditional pancakes and drinks following the 6.30pm mass on the 21st February

Ash Wednesday
This year Ash Wednesday falls on 22nd February. At 6.30pm we will join together for a Solemn Mass with imposition of ashes. A choir will sing the Four Part Mass by William Byrd. This is a Holy Day of Obligation as we begin the season of Lent.

Silent Prayer Group
The Silent Prayer Group will meet again at S. Paul’s Camden Square on Thursday 16th March and Thursday 27th April at 1pm. All welcome.
